our ministry pillars
Ministry pillar 1: worship (sacred gatherings)
The first ministry pillar is Worship. The worship of the triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit is the center of who we are, what we do and where we are going.
Think of it this way, worship is Life Saturated in Devotion to God. We worship God with our words, actions, attitudes, and submit our will and agenda to the will and agenda of God. Worship is NOT just about gathering for worship services. It is about being totally saturated by the presence of God in every area of life, every day of the week, when we gather at church, in our homes, work, school or wherever. As worshippers we seek communion with God when we are with others and when we are alone.
As we explore the four ministry pillars, be aware that the Worship of God surrounds and connects all the other ministry pillars. This is because when we worship in “spirit and in truth” as Jesus instructed. Worship is an integral part of everything that we do.

Ministry Pillar 2: discipleship (Spiritual vitality)
The second ministry pillar is Discipleship. It is our prayer that everyone connected with Prairie Hills Covenant, young and old, strive to become life-long followers of Jesus. We seek to provide an atmosphere, resources and opportunities where every person is challenged and encouraged to be rooted deeply in God’s Word and grow fully in their faith.
We desire to be church where no one is ignored or forgotten. We seek to be willing to hold each other accountable to Scripture always maturing in our faith. We strive to invest ourselves in goal-based discipleship and challenge each other to meet those goals.
We are passionate about engaging in measurable spiritual vitality. This means that we will follow Jesus’ method for making disciples. We will hold high the banner of Becoming Life-long Disciples of Jesus.

Ministry pillar 3: Missions (Bold witness)
The third ministry pillar is missions. This ministry encompasses a broad field of ministry responsibilities and opportunities. It is both local and global in scope but it starts with a simple command.
Jesus said, “You are my witnesses.” He didn’t say you are my interrogators, prosecutors or judges. He said, “witnesses.” We are to tell the truth of what we have seen with our eyes, heard with our ears, felt and experienced of the love and transforming work of Christ in our hearts and minds. It is not our responsibility to argue, sell, debate, cajole, manipulate or bamboozle people with the Gospel. We are simply to be bold witnesses of what we know to be true about Jesus.
We also are a witness for Christ by participating in Christ’s mission both locally and globally. We are committed to mission partnerships with local ministries that exhibit the heart of Christ and to missionaries and mission organizations that give a bold witness throughout the world.
We are committed to the national and global mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church and support multiple mission efforts and missionaries. We also send short term missionaries and mission groups on mission trips from the church to learn and serve in Jesus’ name.

Ministry pillar 4: Stewardship (giving & serving)
The fourth ministry pillar is Stewardship. Jesus calls us to be joyful givers but not just with our money. We are called to be good stewards of our time, talent, spiritual gifts and money. This is one of the most exciting ministries God has entrusted us.
With stewardship, we are challenged to make keep the whole vision of the church for worship, discipleship and mission while challenging, replenishing, training, recruiting, and strategizing the future of the church.
The stewardship of resources is the first job God entrusted to humanity. Consider Jesus’ parable of the talents. It is the servant who invested aggressively and wisely that received the greatest reward. It is was timid and lazy servant who buried the entrusted resource that ended up with nothing. As a church we have been entrusted with great resources to be used for the full mission of the church and so we take stewardship of those resources very seriously.
The pillar of Stewardship clears the path and provides the fuel for the other three ministry pillars. Our prayer is that everyone connected with PHCC would become Faithful Whole-Life Stewards.
